Mike Carter is the founder and owner/operator of the Pre-Retirement Institute. He is also the President of MC Planning Ltd which was created in 2004 as a financial education company. Mike Carter received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1979. Mike has worked exclusively in the Financial Services industry since graduation. His range of positions and experience include senior management roles in Financial Planning, Training & Education, Retail Banking and Human Resources. Mike obtained the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 1997.
Mike Carter is a certified facilitator for the Public Service Superannuation Plan (PSSP) presentation. This is the standard half day presentation designed and maintained by the Pension Centre, Public Services and Procurement Canada. He has delivered this presentation on behalf of the Pension Centre well over 400 times. Mike has a deep level of knowledge of the PSSP and has extensive experience in addressing participant questions on all matters of the plan.
In addition to establishing the Pre-Retirement Institute, Mike Carter founded MC Planning Ltd. (MCPL) in 2004. MCPL has developed into a Canada wide provider of financial planning/retirement planning education services. He has designed and delivered financial/retirement planning programs for a wide range of clients including the Federal Government of Canada (Canada School of Public Service), the Ontario Government, the Ontario Legislative Assembly, the City of Toronto, the Yukon Public Service Commission, the Bermuda Pension Commission, the Canadian Securities Institute, MacKenzie Financial Corp., and Argus Corporation (Bermuda). Mike has extensive knowledge and experience educating workshop participants on both Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Pension Plans as well as all matters related to retirement and financial planning.
Mike is a member of the Financial Planners Standards Council and the Canadian Institute of Financial Planners. He has served on the Corporate Committees of the Credit Valley Hospital Foundation and the Trillium Health Centre Foundation.
